Sat, August 11, 2007 - 10:29 PMUlysses by James Joyce
I could've just easily as said a hundred other books, but no matter which one of those I'd choose, I'd always regret the loss of this one. -

Re: What book would you take to a desert island?
Wed, September 12, 2007 - 7:53 PMI couldn't possibly survive with one book, I'd take as many books as I could get on my iMate and of course an air charger so I could keep reading after the battery went flat. There aren't a lot of books I will read more than once, but if they're good I'll remember them forever:)

Re: What book would you take to a desert island?
Tue, September 18, 2007 - 7:41 PMI would take Tolstoi's "Anna Karenina," because there's always something valuable to be learned from (or reminded of) in it.
The Russian authors seem to be popular picks for being standed on a desert island!
And I have to agree with another reply, too, in that Joyce's "Ulysses" would be a close second choice for me ('cuz you could spend from now 'til he end of time trying to figure every nuance of that narrative out!). -

Re: What book would you take to a desert island?
Wed, September 19, 2007 - 8:57 PM'The Master and Margarita' by Mikhail Bulgakov. I'd seen it around for years and finally picked it up. I find myself re-reading it every couple of months, making notes in the margins and kicking myself for letting this delight escape my grasp for so long. Can I have two? Thanks! Any book of Pablo Neruda's poetry... -

I get a good laugh every time I read the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. So being stuck on a desert Island, I can't imagine wanting anything other than a good laugh.
