hi, I came across a definative word in Gore Vidal's book '1876' for a miniature village but I can't remember it now or find it again, it is driving me nuts! Does any-one possibly know the word I'm looking for?

Sun, February 19, 2006 - 2:47 AMno, thanks for trying but that's not it. I'll know it if I ever see it again. It was something longer and more complex as a word.

Sun, February 19, 2006 - 12:14 PMYou could take a look here: asadz.com/thesaurus/entry.php3 The listings aren't definitive but the word or something similar (enough to jog your memory) may be there. -

Re: miniature village
Mon, February 20, 2006 - 10:52 PMLOL! Oh, you meant "miniature" as in doll-house miniature, or 1"-1' foot scale. I think both gidouille and I thought you meant simply sparsely populated!
Actually, a "diorama" is technically just a miniature scene. It doesn't have to be a village or town or contain anything suggesting human origin. You could make a diorama of prehistoric Siberia or the deepest reaches of the Gobi desert and as long it's "miniature" and presents a scene of some kind, it's a diorama. I made these school all the time as a child.
