Hemingway quote wanted

This is my own (grammatically incorrect?) translation of a Danish translation so there is every reason to expect that it is unprecise, but here goes:

"Let those who want to, save the world, if only the rest of us are allowed to describe it as it is."

Does anyone happen to know the exact wording of what Hemingway wrote? And where?

Dunno, but he said this in "A Farewell to Arms" :

"The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong in the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."

Perhaps that's a place to look, since it seems to be thematically related to your quote?

"We've seen it all go and we'll watch it go again. The great thing is to last and get your work done and see and hear and learn and understand; and write when there is something that you know; and not before; and not too damned much after. Let those who want to save the world if you can get to see it clear and as a whole. Then any part you make will represent the whole if it's made truly. The thing to do is work and learn to make it."

This is paraphrased in his biography which is probably the quote you've read as, "Let those who want to, save the world, the great thing is to last and get your work done."

Thanks for your help. The first half of the quote obviously is there. I wonder about the origin of the other half.
